The Bethlehem Grange137 is ready for the Altamont Fair, from Tuesday, August 17- Sunday, August 22.
 
There will an abundance of activities in the Grange Building, located between the 4-H Building, and the Culinary Building. There will be demonstrations of homemade baked good every day starting on Tuesday with Strawberry Shortcake; Wednesday, peach shortcake; pies on Thursday, strawberry shortcake on Friday; cinnamon buns on Saturday; and cookies on Sunday. In addition to demonstrations, there is an opportunity to purchase some and enjoy with a beverage in the building.
 
 
There will also be booths from each Subordinate Grange and each Junior Grange, and each Pomona (County) Grange.  These booths are always very interesting and educational in a fun way. Every Grange designs their own booth, and arel judged for creativity, educational value and more.
 
Each day there will be a craft being demonstrated by different Grangers.  Many of these crafts are often from years ago, and possibly forgotten by many. Two days will have a special request of every year, two Grangers will be demonstrating kitchen and farm items from years ago. Many are unknown to most of the fair goers.  On Thursday, a special craft of making a rug from socks will be demonstrated.
 
Home-grown plants will also be on sale at the Grange building, along with homemade crafted items, like the special “scrubbies," knitted and crocheted baby items. And many will be demonstrating these skills as well.
 
There may be fresh produce available, depending on everyone's garden this year.  This is always dependent on the growing season and weather.
 
Make sure to stop by the Bethlehem Grange 137 booth for more information on becoming a member of the Grange. There will be applications for all age groups, juniors 5-14, youth15-35, and subordinate Grange members 15-105. There are many benefits to membership including an online shopping savings.
 
We will also have our event card, listing all of the remaining dinners including the September Chicken and Rib BBQ, and projects on the 2021 Calendar. 
 
As an organization, the Grange is involved with helping many others. As a Chapter of "Stars4ourTroops," it has stars available for 1st Responders, healthcare workers, veterans and more. The Grange will be accepting at its booth: worn flags for proper disposal; aluminum pull tabs from soda, beer cans, soup cans and pet food to support the local Ronald McDonald House; old eyeglasses and hearing aids for the Lions Organization; and non-perishable food items to support five neighboring food pantries.
