Event Description:
The Blanchard * Currey American Legion Post 1040, conducts an annual American Flag Retirement Ceremony yearly on a Tuesday in June as close to Flag Day as possible. This date is chosen as we are supported by the Elsmere Fire Department.
This event is open to the public. Scout Groups and residents are welcome and encouraged to attend this public display of honoring and showing respect to our National Emblem, the American Flag.
A service is performed by members of the Legion, followed by a bugle rendition of “To the Colors”, and the Flags are disposed of by fire.
There are collection boxes available around the Town so your Flag can be disposed of properly.
A Flag Box is located in front of the American Legion as well as the Bethlehem VFW. Collection boxes are also located inside the Bethlehem Town Hall and Library, as well in front of the Phillips Hardware on Delaware Ave, Delmar, and Curtis Lumber, in Delmar.
