(Latham, NY) The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation and Sunmark Credit Union employees have come together to “dip with it, sip with it, and put our hips in it” to enable important supportive music therapy for patients at the Bernard and Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center by taking “The Git Up Challenge”. “The Git Up” is a viral hit by singer Blanco Brown. Sunmark staff took the challenge which requires participants to create a video dancing along to the viral hit. Sunmark will donate $1 to the music therapy program, up to $5,000, for every comment, like, or share given by viewers from now until July 15 on any Sunmark social media channel.

The video is posted on the Sunmark Foundation Page on Facebook, and on the Sunmark Credit Union website. It will also be posted on all Sunmark Credit Union social media channels during the week. Since June 14, the original music video of “The Git Up” has been viewed almost three million times on YouTube

About the music therapy program at the Bernard and Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center:
The music therapy program is funded solely through grants, gifts, and donations. The Children’s Hospital has a part-time, licensed, board certified music therapist on staff. She works with infant, adolescents, and teens. Music therapy is available to all pediatric patients, including the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders, In-Patient, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Most music therapy is done one-on-one within the patient’s room. Parents and siblings are encouraged to participate when they can and when appropriate. Group sessions are also offered within the play rooms of the inpatient units. These techniques may include: song writing, movement, guided imagery, instrument play, singing, CD recording, and music assisted relaxation.
