August 26, 2020 - A Labor Day launch is set for "Love Goes Viral,” a new single on ITunes and a YouTube music video by Upstate New York artist Robert J. LaCosta. A 8 am and 8 pm Labor Day Facebook Live Kick-off will include prizes event and will formally introduce two organizations who will benefit from the song’s proceeds.
Honoring all workers and those essential employees who worked through the pandemic, the country-pop tune powerfully portrays love in triumph while to video shows heroes in action.
It is also intended to propel people during crises to choose love over any alternative and that we are all in this together. LaCosta decided to use the song’s profound message to spawn what he terms “Profits-For-NonProfits.”
To assist those most affected by the pandemic, the Selkirk, New York songwriter chose an international orphanage organization called Hearts of the Father Outreach in Massachusetts and a national group that focuses on fostering based out of New York State to be recipients of half of the profits from the song.
A musical cover-contest in any genre will net the winner $500 and a music video contest will garner the winner $100. Contestants must post their version of the song on Love Goes Viral Facebook page using the exact lyrics and chords and then garner as many votes as possible with the use of the “Like” button on the page. Deadline is October 15, 2020.
Perhaps the most potent musical antidote to come out of the pandemic, the moving lyrics cut across national, ethnic and regional lines to reveal those who are helping love go viral in their own way while offering certain hope during these uncertain times.
As an essential hearing instrument specialist, LaCosta continued to see patients and witnessed courageous workers during the height of COVID that were in part the inspiration for the song.
“In times of crisis,” LaCosta said, “we control the decision as to whether we will face the great challenges of the day with love or hate, hope or fear, opportunity or loss and service over selfishness. I couldn’t have written such a song if I hadn’t been inspired by real-life examples of those who have chosen to work within adverse situations and by those demonstrating great acts of love.
“Expressively, the lyrics of Love Goes Viral may be a cross between impressionism and realism and country and pop - the latter of which happened at the Blue Sky recording studio in Delmar, New York and not from a planned outcome. The musicians hailed from Upstate, although one played remotely from Idaho.
“The musical contest is being offered as a way to have the song go viral in a stylistic way,” he said. “Like the acts of love shown and the promised vaccine, we hope that these new musical versions and fresh videos will reach people that gravitate toward their preferred specific art form and who wouldn’t have found mine.”
