Bethlehem’s third annual First Night celebration will provide a fun-filled, family-friendly event to celebrate the passing of the old year and the ringing in of the new.  This event is presented in partnership with the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce, Bethlehem Community Fund, Bethlehem Opportunities Unlimited, Bethlehem Senior Projects, and Friends of Bethlehem Parks and Recreation.

First Night Bethlehem will be held on Monday, December 31, and start off with fireworks at the Four Corners at 6:30pm.  Entertainment and activities follow at various nearby venues, all within walking distance of Four Corners.

“First Night Bethlehem is a great new tradition that brings our community together to have fun and raise money for groups that help our neighbors in need,” observed Bethlehem Town Supervisor David VanLuven.

Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce President, Maureen McGuinness remarked, “This is one example of why Bethlehem is a great place to live and work as business and community groups work together to organize a family friendly celebration to kick off the New Year.”

This year’s lineup includes:
NISKY DIXIE CATS THREE QUARTER NORTH WIDE AWAKE BAD Jazz
PLAYIN’ with FIRE BAND RED DIRT HIGHWAY MAGICIAN JIM SNACK
AARON DAVIS ANDY the MUSIC MAN MENDELSSOHN CLUB

Other fun and entertainment includes an outdoor ice sculpture, face painting, crafts for kids, green screen photo booth, DEC wildlife game, Therapy Dogs International, Cue Theatre, Bethlehem Traditional Irish Dance, Broadway Bound Performing Arts Academy, a kosher food festival, and Bethlehem’s Got Teen Talent Show at Town Hall.

Join us this year as we celebrate and raise money for our neighbors in need by supporting the following local non-profits and their programs: Bethlehem Community Fund, Bethlehem Opportunities Unlimited (BOU), Bethlehem Senior Projects and Friends of Bethlehem Parks & Recreation
  • The Bethlehem Community Fund raises money to fill the gap left by traditional social services. Teachers, nurses, guidance counselors, school social workers, and area clergy make most of the requests for assistance.
  • All proceeds received by the Friends of Bethlehem Parks and Recreation are held in a scholarship fund to assist local individuals and families in need participate in town activities.
  • Bethlehem Opportunities Unlimited works closely with the Bethlehem Central School District to support positive activities for students as well as annual forums designed to help parents and teens confront the challenges and opportunities they face.
  • Bethlehem Senior Projects, Inc. provides programming and funds to supplement the Town Senior Services Department, sponsor the Bethlehem Food Pantry, and support an emergency heating fund.
