ALBANY – November 24, 2020 – CAP COM Federal Credit Union and its charitable giving arm, the CAP COM Cares Foundation, are pleased to announce their annual “Sharing the Harvest” program. The credit union, located in Albany, NY, will pack and deliver more than 400 Thanksgiving meals to families in need around the Capital Region. This is the ninth year that CAP COM FCU has organized the program.

With hunger being a top concern in this unprecedented time, CAP COM is committed to continuing support for organizations that keep the Capital Region community fed. With the logistical support of 65 socially distant CAP COM employee volunteers and Hannaford Supermarkets and in-kind donations from Freihofer’s Bakery, the credit union is able to provide complete and nourishing Thanksgiving meals across the region.

The nonperishable items for the 400 meals were packed at CAP COM headquarters the week of November 16th. Fresh turkeys are added right before delivery, the week of November 23rd. The deliveries will support organizations such as the Commission on Economic Opportunity, St. Catherine’s Center for Children, Joseph’s House & Shelter, Unity House, Franklin Community Center, Shelters of Saratoga, and public schools throughout Albany, Cohoes and Menands.

“Now more than ever, there is an increased need and we’re grateful to our partners and volunteers in the community who are so vital to the success of Sharing the Harvest,” stated Chris McKenna, CAP COM’s President and CEO. (Photos of McKenna packing and delivering with volunteers, included) “Every family deserves to spend Thanksgiving together, enjoying a hot meal and we are thrilled that Sharing the Harvest continues to be a staple program of the CAP COM Cares Foundation.”
