Bethlehem Chamber Participates In Small Business Saturday As A Neighborhood Champion and Promotes Shopping Local
Delmar, NY (November 23, 2020) -------- 2020 marks the 11th celebration of Small Business Saturday, and the Bethlehem Chamber is participating once again as a Neighborhood Champion. Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday celebrates the impact small businesses have on communities across the country. Since it started in 2010, consumers have reported spending an estimated $120 billion across all Small Business Saturdays combined*. That’s $120 billion toward helping communities thrive, spent over just ten days alone.
This year Small Business Saturday will take place on November 28. As a Neighborhood Champion, the chamber will be promoting events and special activities some of the members have planned that day. This year has been especially challenging for small businesses, and they need the support of the community more than ever.
“In a recent survey of our members 84 percent said the pandemic has had an adverse economic impact on their business,” said Chamber President Maureen McGuinness. “This holiday shopping season is an opportunity for small businesses to make up some of the losses they have experienced. With 65 cents of every dollar spent at small local businesses staying in the community, supporting small businesses benefits the community as a whole.”
