November 13, 2018 - Every year, we see a greater need for assistance around the holidays for families living in our community. To help these families, the Bethlehem Central School District sponsors a Holiday Caring & Sharing Drive providing our neighbors in need with food and gift cards in advance of the winter holiday season.

Our high school Student senate plays a significant role in organizing a food drive, with food donations collected at our seven schools. We also rely on our generous community sponsors who contribute and help us pair those donations with gift cards. Last year, our school community helped more than 100 local families.

We are looking forward to once again providing assistance to local families this Holiday Season and hope to do so with your help!

We are asking for donations of grocery gift cards, rather than gifts. The families we work with truly appreciate receiving the grocery cards. Many have told us that by having their food needs met they are better able to purchase gifts, of their choice, for their children. We would greatly appreciate your assistance in providing grocery gift cards in any amount. However, please consider that providing gift cards in smaller denominations (e.g. $10, $20, and $25) helps us distribute cards more easily to our families.

We ask that your organization bring any gift card donations to the Special Education and Student Services (SESS) office, located at the high school, on or before Friday, December 11, 2018. Having the gift cards by this date will allow us to organize an equitable distribution to our families based on the number of families who participate and family size.

Please contact Sherri Fitzpatrick (Secretary to the Director of SESS) or JoAnn Menrath (Nurse Coordinator) with any questions or concerns you may have.  Thank you for your consideration and for any assistance you can offer in caring for our families in need this holiday season. It is so greatly appreciated.
