Dear Members of the Chamber of Commerce:

I am writing to request support for the Bethlehem Central High School Future Business Leaders of
America (BCHS FBLA) Chapter to help us sponsor a discount toward the cost of stylus pens for
students.

Due to our current environment, online learning has become a norm at BCHS. All students spend
several hours jotting notes down on our school provided Chromebooks. As freshmen, we were given a
Chromebook and matching electronic stylus provided by the school for free. However, many students
have displaced or broken their styluses since freshman-orientation and failed to buy a new one due to
the high cost - which is required to purchase if displaced or broken. Students who do not find the price
to be manageable will choose not to buy one and instead face difficulty writing on their computer.
When our students graduate senior year, they must return their Chromebook and stylus and are
obligated to pay for a new one if they fail to turn one in. Our FBLA Chapter would like to provide
students with essential styluses at a waived/reduced cost to continue to support the transition to online
learning easier.

The cost for each stylus is approximately $31.17 per student from the Buy-It School Store, which
FBLA helps run. If any Chamber of Commerce members are interested in helping us make stylus pens
more affordable for BCHS students, we would be happy to, in turn, help promote small businesses that
are a part of the Chamber of Commerce community.

As an additional note, FBLA also fundraises for members to participate in State and National
Leadership Conferences. At Bethlehem, we are continually fundraising for the Chapter also to offset
the costs for members to attend these competitive conferences that represent our community. We
would be happy to offer additional information about the Leadership Conferences if that proves to be a
way that Chamber members would like to support our efforts.

If you would like to schedule a time to discuss this further and ask any questions you may have in
order to support our efforts, you may contact: Emma Liu, Buy-It School Store Treasurer, via email at
eliu110@bethlehemschools.org or our BCHS FBLA advisor, Tracy Farrell, via email at
tfarrell@bethlehemschools.org .

Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,
Emma Liu
